Project case study
Richardson Milling (UK) Ltd.
Waterproofing design for a two-storey basement beneath a grain intake building and the connecting tunnels below the silos at Richardson Milling's Bedford site, using Type B watertight concrete throughout.
Richardson Milling identified an opportunity to redevelop part of their existing Bedford site, together with some adjacent land, to create a large modern milling facility incorporating new silos and a large grain intake building. CLW were commissioned as the waterproofing design consultant for a two-storey basement beneath the grain intake building, and for the tunnels sited below the silos which connect to the intake basement.
Working closely with the wider design team, CLW established that a single form of waterproofing was required throughout. The specification used Type B structurally integral watertight concrete for the basement under the intake and for the tunnels below the silos.
