Project case study
15 Firs Chase
Outline waterproofing design for a new basement at Saltwater, 15 Firs Chase, West Mersea, achieving Grade 3 performance to BS 8102:2022 with Type B and Type C cavity drainage.
CLW were appointed by The Brennan Group to provide structural waterproofing consultancy for the new basement at Saltwater, 15 Firs Chase, West Mersea. The scope ran from desktop study and design team liaison through to an Outline Waterproofing Design Report, specifying Type B and Type C cavity drainage systems to achieve Grade 3 performance in accordance with BS 8102:2022.
The scheme was complicated by the presence of hydrocarbons within the ground. This led to the inclusion of a positive air curtain within the sealed cavity drain system, together with gas-resistant Type A membranes, so that the waterproofing strategy addressed both water and ground gas in a single, co-ordinated approach.
